It has been about nine months since I first started this blog. When I first started, my goal was to write about something I liked and share it with the Internet community. I would have been happy if just one person found something worthwhile in my ramblings. However, we passed an important milestone in the Dividend Investing Blog this week. We have finally broken the century mark for subscribers to the feed. I want to thank all the loyal readers. I’m looking forward to the next one hundred subscribers.

The dollar has been on a roll over the past month. It has advanced 7.3% against the euro and is showing record strength against many other foreign currencies. This gain against the euro is the most since the euro first began circulation. At first glance, it would seem we are finally turning the US economy around. The current news reports claim that Tropical Storm Fay will cross over Florida, exit into the Atlantic Ocean, gain strength, and then boomerang back to hit the Sunshine State again. I don’t care for the hustle and bustle of downtown, but the nature surrounding the place is awesome. I was able to go white water rafting for the first time. We also did some tubing down a mountain stream. Anyway, I highly recommend it.
I couldn’t post yesterday because I felt horrible by the time I arrived home from work. I went to the doctor today and he says what I think is a spider bite is merely an abscess. I think his diagnosis was based on the fact brown recluse spiders are not in Florida, but I informed him that I had been in the Smoky Mountains. He still says no way.

There was an earthquake yesterday in California. I live in Florida and I just happened to be on a video call with a guy in Orange County at the time of the earthquake. He told me there was an earthquake and I thought he was just joking. Once he grabbed hold of his desk and I heard glass breaking I figured it was in fact an earthquake. That was pretty intense. I would imagine Garmin (GRMN) felt a similar shock today as the stock was rocked by a 22% downturn. Has Garmin lost its way?
