I have been slammed with several projects lately. They have taken significant time away from my usual routine. I haven’t been able to keep up with my Google Reader, much less the market over the past week. I will keep this one short and sweet. Anyone over the age of 30 should appreciate the article title. Time Bandits is a classic. Sometimes I wish I had a map with time portals so I could get “stinking rich”.
The Thoroughbred Folio doubled its losses from last week. I guess people weren’t as happy to see Spring as I thought. Maybe it was a hangover from the Easter Bunny’s bash. At any rate, we can always rely on our dividends even if as the market continues to dry heave. I know you get tired of me extolling the virtues of dividends, but facts are facts. These suckers are reliable.
M&T Bank (MTB), Pepsico (PEP), Bank of America (BAC), and Stanley Works (SWK) combined for $2.62 in dividends. Bank of America represented 43% of those dividends. After all the bank woes during the past six months, I revel in the fact that it appears (at least right now) that most of these banks will be able to come out of the downturn without a dividend rate cut. This would be huge for my personal investments.
Wrigley chewed its way up into the top three this week knocking off Synovus. It joins Nucor and VF Corp. There was a big break up in the bottom three this week as Fifth Third tumbled into last place. Gannett slid back into the lower tier to join Leggett & Platt.
