There is not much to say, I think the headline spells it out for you. The Thoroughbred Folio reached a new record this week. We are at our lowest point since we began this journey back in December. The mortgage crisis and weak dollar are to blame. At least, that’s what the news media keeps telling me. It’s funny I can remember the Internet hoopla around 2000. The real estate bubble was just the same. People start believing things can go on that way forever, but they rarely ever do. If something looks to good, then there is definitely something wrong under the hood.
The upside for us is that we did receive three more dividends today. Budweiser (BUD), Eli Lilly (LLY), and Emerson (EMR) rolled $1.56 into the Folio. Funny how the sudden deposit of a dividend can lift your day.
The three front runners are still galloping along. Nucor Corp, VF Corp, and Synovus are three of only four stocks that are still in the green. The rear of the pack is really getting ugly. Gannett is down 20.5%. The company is struggling with profits as lower broadcasting revenue is taking a toll. Total System Services is keeping itself solidly out of last place. Leggett & Platt is takes the final spot in the bottom.

It seems to me that you have ouperformed the S&P 500 since your portfolio was formed.

We have performed better than the S&P 500 to date. It will be interesting to see how things continue to trend through the rest of the year.

Hopefully it will be different than last year, whne dividend stocks underperformed due to the heavy losses in financials..
